Midsomer Murders
Channels like Freevee and Tubi have many of the seasons of The Midsomer Murders, a series that’s been on the air since 1997 and is still going strong. The award-winning book series from Caroline Graham spans seven books, each taking place in the charming village where DCI Barnaby is the head inspector and ready to bring peace to his quiet town once more.
Sherlock Holmes
Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson are two iconic characters created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. They’re also in many movies and TV shows found on streaming services like Crackle. Read some of his books, and then watch the blockbuster movies starring Robert Downey Jr. or the animated show with Peter O’Toole. There’s also a series filmed in 1954 available.
Silent Witness
While the TV show came first, the show’s creator, Nigel McCrery, wrote four novels as tie-ins to the long-running forensic crime series. In each show, a crime has been committed and the forensic pathologist is determined to get enough evidence to ensure the right suspect is arrested with evidence that cannot be disputed. Silent Witness has been on the air since 1996 and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.
Vera
Since 2011, Ann Cleeves’ best-selling series about DCI Vera Stanhope has been a great show for mystery fans. DCI Stanhope has a strong personality, but when she cares, she goes all out to bring justice to those who were wronged. Each show is just as puzzling to solve as the books.
